What we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. Written to be read rather than to be impressive.
Effective 8 August 2026 Last updated 10 August 2026
1. The short version
- You can read every tutorial on this site without giving us anything.
- We ask for your name and email only when you join a waitlist, buy a course, book a call, or subscribe.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we never have.
- We do not run advertising trackers or retargeting pixels.
- Marketing email you ask for, you can stop at any time with one click. Buy a course and we will also email you about that course.
- Want your data deleted? Email us and we will do it.
2. Who we are
This site is operated by Coding With The Force Inc, a Missouri corporation, of 200 NE Missouri Rd, Suite 200 #2021, Lee's Summit, MO 64086, USA.
For UK and EU data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal data described here.

3. What we collect, and why
| When | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You join a course waitlist | First name, last name, email, which course, the consent wording you agreed to, the page you signed up from, and the date | To tell you when the course opens, and to keep a record that you consented |
| You subscribe to the newsletter | Email address, and name if you gave one | To send you the newsletter you asked for |
| You buy a course | Billing details and payment method — collected and held by Stripe, never by us. Your name and email, and which course you bought, are passed to Kit, our email provider | To take payment, give you access, and send you the joining instructions, schedule and announcements for that course |
| You book a call | Name, email, timezone and anything you type into the booking form — collected by Calendly | To schedule the session and send you the meeting link |
| You join a course Discord | Your Discord account details, as Discord provides them | To give you access to your cohort's channel |
| You simply visit | Aggregate, non-identifying page statistics; server logs kept by our host; and a short-lived, hashed record of your IP address if you submit a form | To see which tutorials are useful, to keep the site up, and to stop bots hammering our forms |
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and our courses are not aimed at children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
3.1 A note on IP addresses
When you submit a form we count recent attempts from your IP address to block automated abuse. That counter stores a one-way hash of your IP rather than the address itself, and it is discarded automatically after fifteen minutes. We do not use it to identify or track you.
4. Who else is involved
We use a small number of third-party services. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy governing what it does with that data.
| Service | What it does | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payments | Your name, email and payment details. We never receive your full card number. |
| Kit (formerly ConvertKit) | Email, waitlists and course announcements | Your name, email, which course you joined the waitlist for or bought, and when |
| Calendly | Booking one-on-one sessions | Your name, email, timezone and booking answers |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Bot protection on forms | Technical signals about your browser. Chosen specifically because it does not profile you or serve ads. |
| Jetpack (Automattic) | Site statistics, security and subscriptions | Aggregate visit data and, for subscribers, your email |
| YouTube (Google) | Embedded tutorial videos | Your IP address and viewing data when a video loads. See section 5. |
| Google Fonts | Typefaces used on the site | Your IP address when a font is requested |
| Discord | Course community | Your Discord account and anything you post there |
| Udemy | Hosts our self-paced courses | Everything, if you follow a link and buy there. That purchase is with Udemy, not with us. |
| GoDaddy | Web hosting | Standard server logs, including IP addresses |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers, advertising networks or anyone else not listed above.
4.1 Affiliate links
Links to our Udemy courses carry a referral code, which means Udemy credits the sale to us. It costs you nothing extra. Some links to books we recommend are similarly affiliate links.
5. Cookies and embedded content
We do not set advertising or tracking cookies of our own. WordPress may set functional cookies if you leave a comment or log in.
Embedded YouTube videos are the significant one. Almost every tutorial on this site embeds a YouTube video. When one loads, YouTube receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, exactly as if you had visited YouTube directly — and that happens whether or not you press play. If that concerns you, a content blocker or your browser's third-party cookie settings will stop it, and the written tutorial will still read normally.
Typefaces are requested from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
6. Our legal basis (UK and EU visitors)
| Purpose | Basis |
|---|---|
| Sending you a waitlist or newsletter email you asked for | Consent |
| Delivering a course you bought, emailing you about it, and taking payment | Performance of a contract |
| Keeping records of purchases for tax and accounting | Legal obligation |
| Blocking bots, keeping the site up, and basic aggregate statistics | Legitimate interests |
7. How long we keep it
- Newsletter and waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, which in the US is generally seven years.
- Course materials you submitted (homework, code): for the duration of your course and a reasonable period afterwards.
- Form abuse counters: fifteen minutes.
- Undelivered signups held temporarily on our server when our email provider is unreachable: deleted as soon as they are delivered.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it;
- send you a copy in a portable format;
- stop using it for a particular purpose; or
- stop emailing you — every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Email support@codingwiththeforce.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
UK and EU visitors also have the right to withdraw consent at any time and to complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
California residents have the rights above under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law, so there is nothing to opt out of.
9. Where your data goes
We are based in the United States, and the services listed in section 4 are primarily US-based. If you are in the UK or EU, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Our providers rely on recognised transfer mechanisms — typically Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework — which you can review in their own privacy policies, linked above.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Payment card details never touch our server. Admin access requires two-factor authentication, and repeated failed logins are blocked automatically.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will tell you and the relevant authority as quickly as the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
If we add or change a service that handles your data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant and affects data we already hold, we will tell subscribers by email rather than relying on you to re-read this page.
Any question at all about your data — email support@codingwiththeforce.com. You do not need to cite a regulation or use any particular wording; just ask.
